We usually stay in Orange Beach but due to Hurricane Sandy (several weeks earlier) we were forced to vacation east in Pensacola. While we knew there would be some inconveniences, one bridge was out, several restaurants were closed or had limited menu due to the island gas line being out for 2 days, we were still disappointed. There was so much damage repair going on at the overall condo (Emerald Isle) that you could not relax in your room due to sounds of jack hammers, and hammer drills. While I understand the need for repairs, VRBO or Beachbum should have made that clear on the front end. Also the facility was average. Considering that the places in Orange Beach are about $500 cheaper for the week and they are much nicer and more update to date, we look to return to Orange Beach next year.
